Who Believe in Your Home

Founder Peter Leeke’s vision for Kingswood is one of deep integrity, nurtured relationships, and a passion for building and craft. A staff of 14—including skilled managers, talented designers, and field supervisors who are licensed contractors in North and South Carolina—represent 300 years of collective experience and personalized service. The Kingswood team upholds a high bar in all they do: listening, anticipating needs, respecting schedules and budgets, and maintaining currency in the shifting worlds of technology, engineering, and materials.

Peter Leeke

Founder & President | Charlotte

Peter Leeke founded Kingswood Custom Homes with his wife, Louise, in 1996 when they moved their family to Charlotte, North Carolina from London, England. Prior to the Leekes’ relocation to the United States, Peter ran a successful homebuilding and development enterprise, which built award-winning residences in and around London. He also worked with the British government, building apartments and townhomes for people with special needs. An experienced homebuilder and entrepreneur, Peter is long-inspired by his grandmother, who was knowledgeable about construction and involved in real estate investments in London.

Regarded for his warmth and integrity, Peter enjoys the relationships that he nurtures with his team, their clients, and industry professionals alike. As a philanthropist, Peter has dedicated himself and Kingswood to supporting the community, which as he says, “has been so good to us.” From raising over a million dollars for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital to sponsoring events for The Heartest Yard and Inspire the Fire, among others, Peter sets the bar high in both business and service. His passion for quality—from working with top architects to maintaining skilled currency with technology and materials—is evident in every Kingswood project.
Peter is the recipient of the 2018 Leadership Award from the Charlotte Home Builder’s Association.

Louise Leeke

Vice-President | Charlotte

Louise Leeke founded Kingswood Custom Homes alongside her husband Peter and leads the Interior Design department for the organization. Born into a family of English builders—and representing a third generation—Louise is steeped in thoroughly personalized service, exquisite details, and quality craftsmanship. Louise met Peter while working in her family’s London-based business and after they married and immigrated to Charlotte, her deep experience of the building industry merged with his to create Kingswood.

Louise’s interior commissions reflect an ease, innate skill and sensibility that seem inevitable, but are the result of clear and rigorous organization. She is admired for her diverse clientele, one-of-a-kind designs, and ability to work alongside first-class trades and artisans. When not in the design studio or guiding the day-to-day operations of Kingswood, Louise is involved in the greater Charlotte community, supporting organizations such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Heartest Yard, and Inspire the Fire. Louise and Peter have three grown children.

Rob Hutzler

Managing Partner | Kiawah Island

Managing Partner Rob Hutzler leads the Kingswood Homes office in Kiawah Island. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Rob has focused on custom residential home building in the Carolinas for over two decades. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance and Insurance from Appalachian State University and is a licensed contractor in South Carolina. Prior to joining Kingswood, Rob was a Purchasing and Estimating Manager and a Project Manager for local construction companies. He says, “I have a knack for business as well as a passion for fixing things so have found my work in custom home building suits me very well. In addition to doing what I love, I am further inspired by Kingswood’s philanthropy—from donations to charity events to building homes for disabled veterans—which only fuels my desire to be involved to make life better for everyone.”

Rob enjoys the challenges of the industry, building relationships, and making dreams come true for Kingswood’s clients. He shares the process with his children, showing them photos along the way so that they have an appreciation for the hard work that goes into each home, how many skilled people it takes, and how everyone works together to make it happen. One day he’d like to take this a step further and introduce home building to kids still in school so that they might consider pursuing a career in construction one day too. When not on the job, Rob spends time with his wife, three children, and two dogs. He is an avid supporter of youth sports teams and has enjoyed volunteering as a coach.

Brian Hedgepeth

Managing Partner | Charlotte

Managing Partner Brian Hedgepeth has worked with Kingswood Custom Homes overseeing all the purchasing and estimating since 2007. Enthusiastic in his work, Brian is especially proud of the ongoing relationships with Kingswood’s clients and with their trade base. He loves the process of building and the collaborative effort it requires. He says, “It is very rewarding to provide an incredible product for our clients—they really love their homes. To make that happen we provide work for our 200-plus trade contractors and have a direct impact on their lives too.”

Originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science & Management and a Minor in Economics from Clemson University. His choice of profession was indicated early in life via an indisputable love of Legos and creating something tangible. Today, he credits the 2008 recession as the challenge that created a true appreciation for the process and the patience, resilience, and accountability necessary for leaning in and staying the course. On a more micro-level, the phase of construction that he particularly enjoys is the interior trim stage, which comes after the drywall, tile, and flooring have been installed. “The interior trim gives the spaces recognizable form and identity. At that point, the house really takes on a heartbeat and personality.”

Brian is a licensed General Contractor and holds the Associate Constructor designation from the American Institute of Constructors. In his free time, he enjoys coaching children’s basketballs teams, working out with local community organization F3, watching Clemson football, and spending time with his wife Perrin, their young son, and their dogs, Moose and Murphy.
Brian won the 2018 Purchasing Manager of the Year Award from Charlotte Home Builder’s Association.
